From frontlines to gallery walls: a mural dedicated to healthcare workers. McMullen Gallery and the Friends of University Hospitals are excited to announce the commission of a large scale mural by local artist AJA Louden in collaboration with healthcare workers. The mural will highlight the extraordinary journey of healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic through text and imagery sourced directly from them.

McMullen Gallery is inviting all healthcare workers throughout the Edmonton region to participate by answering questions about their experience. Their responses will be collected and passed to AJA, who will create a mural inspired by their responses. The finished mural will be displayed in the University of Albert Hospital’s Hero Haven, located in McMullen Gallery, between March and August before it is moved to a permanent home in the University of Alberta Hospital.

AJA Louden Studios creates inspiring, memorable interior and exterior artworks, boldly transforming everyday spaces into landmarks. You can find their artwork throughout the city on LRT stations and buildings. McMullen Gallery is located on the main floor (East Entrance) of the University of Alberta Hospital, located at 8840 112 street.
