“In the quiet halls of a healthcare environment, my goal is to provide a "visual window" to the vastness of the Canadian wilderness. Carnet des Sommets is a collection of plein air watercolour paintings that capture the fleeting, raw energy of our summits and valleys. Through gestural lines and a biophilic approach to colour, these works are designed to provide "visual respite" and psychological relief. Each sketch is a testament to nature's resilience, intended to serve as a restorative companion for those navigating the hospital space.” ~Mariam Qureshi

Mariam Qureshi is an Edmonton-based professional visual artist and outdoor enthusiast specializing in biophilic design and abstract expressionism. Fluent in both English and French, Mariam integrates environmental stewardship with her artistic practice, often creating works en plein air to capture the landscape's authentic resonance. Her work has been exhibited internationally, from the Milan Expo 2026 to galleries in Zurich, but she remains dedicated to bringing the healing power of nature to her local community in Alberta.
